da Coalition

by Will Averill

Almost a sitcom. Almost.

The Coalition invades Norwich, 6-9 April, 7.30 p.m. at the Garage Theatre

Norwich is about to be invaded by The Coalition, a new live sitcom by Crude Apache, presented by Axis of Evil Productions. Part Men Behaving Badly, part Young Ones, part Friends, this bold new theatrical sitcom tells the story of two English lads and their new American roommate.

International relations aren’t always easy, and the boys are forced to fail job interviews, get dumped, fight crime, and become white rappers in order to survive in the mean streets of Norwich.

Andy, tired of being constantly dumped by girlfriends, decides to get his own swank bachelor pad, and enlists the help of rich ne’er do well Tom, whose rich father has promised to fund his lifestyle until he gets a job—which is why Tom is trying as hard as he can NOT to get a job. Because Andy doesn’t trust Tom, he gets another roommate off of the Internet, an American known only as The Yank. Andy, Tom, and the Yank have to get used to each other, establish boundaries, and learn fly hip-hop moves from a very eccentric former Navy dance instructor in order to keep their flat.

The performance the first of a six part first “season” which will continue throughout 2005-2006, approximately every three months.  Future episodes include a visit from England’s premier playwright William Shakespeare, who turns out to be a very naughty man indeed; an attempt to clean the boys up by the magical Chauvinist Pig Fairy Godmother, and a Tarintino-esque turn into the darker side of Norwich in the Great Big Mafia episode.

The Coalition runs Wednesday 6th April through Saturday 9th April 2005, beginning at 7.30p.m. at the Garage Theatre, across from Chapelfield Park.

Tickets are £5/£4 conc. The play contains two episodes of approximately 45 minutes, separated by a 15 minute interval.

Book in advance through the Norwich Arts Centre Box Office tel. 01603 630 352.

Following the controversial billing debate that has ensued since last month's news letter, I am proud to introduce...
