The Coalition

Those cheeky chappies at Axis of Evil are at it again with episodes 5 & 6 of The Coalition: ‘Rear Entry’ & ‘Terminal’. Shows are at the Garage 23 – 25th Feb, 7.30. Tickets cost £6/5 and are available from NAC box office, UEA box office, the UEA website or on the door. You can also check out their spangly new website www.axisofevilproductions.com for more info.

Something about Simone

Jo Swann’s ‘fun, glamorous and camp’ updating of Abigail’s Party proceeds apace with a full cast and rehearsals to start soon. The show will be on at the Puppet Theatre 27th – 29th April, 7.30. Tickets are £6 and will be on sale at www.kultureshock.co.uk from 1st March or by phone on 01603 625557. You can also check out their spangly new blog at amglampresents.blogspot.com for more info.

Faustus

I am happy to report that we managed to get the 1700 quid in grants we applied for. The show will go up at the end of May at the Garage and rehearsals begin at the end of February. Dani is still looking for 5 more actors (both sexes) and will be holding another audition workshop at the Hog in Armour, Sun 19th Feb, 3 – 5pm. If you’re not too busy for the next three months then get on down and get involved. Alternatively you can contact Dani on 07932 769 990. If you want to visit our spangly new website you can’t because we haven’t got one.

Singing the Postman

An additional £500 was agreed for Jo Edye’s epic (?) take on the legend of Allan Smethurst. The show will tour Norfolk in the last week of July and perform as part of Openstages (that’s Theatre in the Parks to the rest of us) during the first week in August. Jo is looking for an actress aged 20 – 40, and someone interested in getting involved in set building and design. Call him on 07867 882 304. There will be a rehearsed read through of the first draft of the script on Sun 19th Feb, 8.30 at the Stores on Dereham Road. All are welcome to attend, listen carefully, and then give him their three pennyworth.

Copenhagen

Due to a fuck up, probably on RJT’s part, the council never received the Science Festival application forms. Russell is now undecided as to whether to go ahead with the project in September, or to stage it later. He ponders even as he types these words.

Website

Rupert will get on the case of updating our spangly old website as soon as Pirateutopia’s latest merry-go-round of magna opera has ceased.

Garage

Don’t get us started on this again. There should be more concrete news next month.

Ken Turner RIP

Nicky and Russell’s dad finally lost his long battle against cancer earlier this month. Until his illness worsened last year, he and Margaret attended virtually all our shows and were well known to several of the company. There will be a celebratory service at St Remigius Church, Hethersett, at 12.30 on Wed 15th Feb. All who knew Ken or the family are welcome to attend both the service and the drinks and nibbles do at Wymondham Dell Bowls Club afterwards. For more info call Russell on 07739 073 545. Panda drops a Sprog

Watch this space. (Thanks Russ – yes, for those of you who don't know, Marc and I are expecting a baby (at least we hope that's what it will be) on or around August 12th. Baby items will be cheerfully accepted! - panda)

We’ll meet again

Wed 15th Mar, 8pm, Nelson PH. All are welcome to come along and tell us what a fine job we’re doing.
