Crude Apache Newsletter 15/3/06 & 3/4/06
Something About Simone
Will be at the Puppet Theatre 27 – 29 April **THIS WEEK** tickets £6. Note that the box office has been moved to the Puppet Theatre itself on 01603 629921.
Don't miss it and remember it contains no puppets – something the Evening News overlooked in their slightly misleading piece entitled “Puppet Play Explores Gay Issues”
Be there or be a funny shape. The show features the glamorous Miss Moore's sofa.
Jo still needs someone to help out with lighting and sound during the week of the production. Contact her on 07963 997 729.
Much Ado About Nothing
Panda's new pirateutopia play will be at NAC next week for one night only – May 4th – with shows at 6pm & 8pm. Tickets £4 and £6 available from NAC box office 660352. The show stars Crude stalwarts Rosie, Russ, Leighton, Jess and the 2 Toms (Puppet & Francis) with a screeen debut from Jacqui Mackay. Obviously contains the usual video, live camera projection and mobile phone text messaging that we have grown to expect. Also includes the cheesiest tune Tim Lane has ever written and tonk bouncers (whatever they might be!)
Coalition
The last Coalition went very well and a good time was had by all. Financial details available soon. The Coalition of the Ring video is available for viewing at www.lawrence.com. No decision has yet been made about the next Coalition. Watch this space.
Faustus
The show has now been fully cast and rehearsals are going well. Dates are 25 – 27 May at the Garage.
Jax
Jacqui McKay has been appointed CA’s Producer at Large (with the glamorous Ms Moore as her assistant). Her duties will include helping to produce shows where necessary, compiling useful lists of such things as venues and rehearsal spaces for people to peruse, and of course being pregnant. Congratulations from all of us to Jax and Toby. As Jax was not technically a member of CA, she was made an honorary one, the first person to receive such an accolade. Of course Macduff is also an honorary member, but he’s a dog. Woof.
Singing Postman
The show will go ahead during the last week of July and the first week of August. The rehearsed read through went very well. Jo Edye is still looking for a female actor aged 20 to 40. Contact him on 07867 882 304.
Copenhagen
Due to various fuck ups and the fact that he’s both a busy yet lazy bastard, Russell has decided to shelve this project for the moment. It will return.
Website
Hopefully Rupert will be able to start work on the new website soon. Directors who still have not submitted notes for past productions (including Yours Truly) will be gently prodded to provide them. Be prepared.
Garage
Puppet Tom is looking into having the door for the Clarkson Road garage replaced. There are plans afoot to have a proper clear out of both premises in the summer. There are always plans afoot for the garages…
Blocks
Does anyone know where the CA stage blocks are? Come to that, does anyone know where the videos for Dwarf 7 and The Jury are? Just thought I’d ask. Contact Russell on 07739 073 545 in the unlikely event you have the faintest idea.
Aesthete
Veteran member ‘Charles’ Chaplin is writing an ‘aesthetic political manifesto’. Should be worth reading.
Jo Swan
will be holding her birthday bash at The Stores on Dereham Road, Sat 27 May, 8 till late. The fancy dress theme is Kid’s TV. NO TELLYTUBBIES. Of course this coincides with the last night of Faustus, but hey, what would life be without the odd social double booking cock up?
Hip Hop Request
Jo Swan’s mate Marcus Brendling has the following request. ‘ I am looking for a female singer to do the chorus for an RnB/Hip Hop track. The song might be getting played on Vibe FM once completed and will feature on my website once that’s completed. If interested please ring me on 07919 522 582. I am currently working with 2 local producers from “flexi-styles”’ (whatever that might mean – terminally unhip Ed).
Next Meeting
Wed 3rd May, 8pm, Kings Head PH, Magdalen Street. That’s the new pub being run by the Nelson boys – lots of good ale.
