WELCOME

NEW

MEMBERS

I am pleased to announced it has been a record-breaking month for potential new members signing up to the newsletter. Welcome one and all. There are several up and coming projects, please please please get involved. All people whose numbers are given below are incredibly friendly and only one is a Yank. Feel free to call them up for a chat or just turn up for auditions. Can't wait to meet you...

Xmas Show

Is now written and is a most excellent spoof of C S Lewis' The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. All it needs now is a cast – this is where you come in, yes you! There is an open invite to the first read-through on Tuesday 15th November at 8-30pm and the second on Thursday 17th November at 8pm. Both will be at Dani's house – 12 Silver St, Norwich. Miss Dani Doughty says: “Don't be shy if you are a new member. We're really friendly and bring your own wine!” If you want further info, contact co-writer Miss Jo Moore on 01603 401407 or 0778 606 4733 or gromoreus@yahoo.co.uk

Da Coalition

An audition date has been set for the next exciting installment of life with the Clunge Boyz. Join the Yank, the one with the girlfriend and the er.. other one with the girlfriend at The Branford Arms on Sunday 11th December at 2pm. Allegedly the script is written (?) but call Will on 01603 630327 if you want to know more (I can't promise he knows more but give it a go).

Abigail's Party

Is going well. Mrs Swann has appropriated the Puppet Theatre for the performance. An exceptionally well put together budget was submitted (take note you other directors) and we approved the £1200 requested. Improv workshops are continuing apace but another man playing late 20s to late 30s would be greatly appreciated (story of my life, really). Contact Mrs “Jo” Swann to volunteer on 07963 997729 or joannayorke@hotmail.com

Faust

A grant application has been submitted. Watch this space...

(stop watching now)

Website

If you want stuff putting on the website, send it to Jon Creek on jon@neontribe.co.uk

Singing Postman

Jo invites you all to the the wilds of Suffolk for a Singing Postman tribute night next Friday 18th November. He went last year and apparently it was a riot. Contact him on jo@trolleyfilms.co.uk for more info.

Copenhagen

Russ J. is still going ahead with the project. We await more info from Norwich City Council. For details call Russ on 0773 907 3545.

The Grarge (US pronunciation)

Browne Street is fixed, Clarkson Road is not... its ongoing. A spring clean is on the cards in March followed by a free party.

Trevor Heaton

has written a book called “Nasty Norwich” in the horrible histories tradition. It would be a great one to stage especially with our reputation for local stories. Trevor is interested in Crude Apache maybe doing it. Is anybody interested in picking this up and running with it? It's a funny book and it made Gromore laugh. Contact Tom Carver for info on 765027.

Director's Portfolio

Gromore is putting together information that will be useful for new directors and producers. If you have taken either of those roles and have tips, contact names, rehearsal spaces, prices of venues, etc, that may be of use for the future the send them to Gro at gromoreus@yahoo.co.uk

Pete Barden

Everyone's favourite fluffy homey (well, favourite alongside fluffy Ben, of course) will be back in Norwich for one day only. He will be at The Nelson at 4pm this Sunday November 13th. Join him. There will be a folk session in the evening but don't let that put you off.

Next Meeting

Monday 5th December at The Nelson at 8pm.

Other News & Gossip

Those of you with good memories (or who are as old as Jo Edye) will be able to remember our first ever Crude Apache baby... Little Asa Hardy-Brownlie... aaaaah sweeeet! Well now he's 11, parents Ian and Rachel are expecting another! Gosh, I hear you cry. That's 2 baby Crudettes due next year – I'm sure we can do better than that. All you committed couples have around 4 months to rack up that total. Why are you still reading this? Get on with it!

You know who you are...

I can't go into details on this one but words were exchanged in anger and wine was exchanged through the air at high speed.

Tom Carver showed up for the committee meeting, phew. Apparently he forgot the AGM – inconceivable! Rumours that he was spotted in Turkmenistan cannot be discussed due to the Official Secrets Act but the world is safe again, hooray!

BIRTHDAY SEASON la la la!!

Whose birthdays? Well, mine, Nicki's, Tom Carver's, mine, Panda's, Jakey's, Gareth's and mine. Celebrate now, celebrate life, yeah! (Bonus marks for naming the song those lyrics came from).

JOIN PANDA, NICKI and ME on Friday 18th November for a lovely birthday meal at The Three Ways Lebanese Restaurant, Gentleman's Walk, at 7-30pm. If you want to come can you let me know so I have an idea of numbers, contact me on 401407 or 0778 099 5151 or reply to this email.

OTHER STUFF GOING ON

Well what a month of culture its been. Alan Bennet's History Boys, Kaos Moll Flanders, The International Puppet festival and the fantastic Swanky Geezer Nonsense. We also saw our own Tom Francis in his first show up at the UEA. Top work that man.

If you fancy something a bit special (that's special in a good way) then join me for this...

Stringraphy - at St. Andrew's Hall

Tuesday 22 November at 8pm £9 (£6 concessions)

Tickets Norwich Arts Centre 660352

Stringraphy is a unique form of playing music, an instrument that requires only strings and paper cups. Invented by a Japanese composer, the Stringraphy repertoire varies from western jazz and classics to Japanese folk songs. The members of Stringraphy play the silk strings in a graceful, mesmerizing dance.

Kazue Mizushima, a composer, formed Studio Eve in 1992 with Midori Yaegashi and started to create STRINGRAPHY works. She created indoor sound installations that utilize a multitude of "string telephones" (silk threads attached to paper cups). These installations transform the entire performance space into an immense acoustic "harp" whose strings of criss-crossing thread create a geometric web where both performer and audience become part of the resonating chamber.

JOIN ME THERE.

Also at NAC, Private Peaceful by Scamp Theatre on Monday 5th December at 8pm. As the clock ticks towards dawn, a young soldier not yet 16, looks back over his brief life. The soldier is Thomas Peaceful, a volunteer in the first world war, and in just a few hours he is going to die. But it won't be from an enemy bullet. Peaceful will be executed by a firing squad for cowardice because he refused to obey an order that sent the rest of his unit to their deaths.

Also, The Nimmo Twins will be at The Playhouse during the first 2 weeks of December. Don't miss them.
