10th Anniversary Party Preparations continue apace for the CA 10th Anniversary shindig. Cuurent ideas include three bands, an awards show hosted by the legendary Karl Minns and possibly more puppet craziness from the brain of Will Averill. A couple of pub venues were suggested, and Mr Edye kindly agreed to investigate. A provisional date of Friday 24th September was pencilled in, as none of the committee can make Saturdays.
The Street Jo Edye’s magnum opus opened at the Nelson on 6th July to great reviews and good weather, and continues around the county on 13th (Playhouse), 14th (Waterloo Pk), 15th (Heigham Pk), 16th & 17th (Whiffler), 18th (Cow Tower), 22nd (Southgate Lane Pk), 23rd (York Tavern) and culminating in the customary camp-over at Barford on the 24th. Jo quite rightly urges all to see it.
VIKINGS!! Norwich Viking Month is September 2004, and two of the enthusiastic chaps who are organising it came to see us to recruit actors to help them out. The focus will be on Viking poetry and sermons, and tying that in with the rich heritage of the city. A meeting was arranged for those interested to find out more at the Branford Arms on 3rd August (TBC). Until then, check out www.swain-forkbeard.com.
Puppet Jo Jo Yorke and Panda proposed a show for the March/April slot – Jo’s own work De Sade, about the famous Marquis. Jo will be directing with Panda and Amanda Harrold designing and producing. It appears the style will be based on victorian theatre and the trio will be holding development workshops in the Autumn. The committee awaits a firm budget proposal but all sounds promising.
Welsh Phil I I have no idea what Phil’s surname is so I describe him as we all know him. Phil wants to arrange a read-thru of yet another play, Baksheesh, which is set in a bar in a corrupt country and features many zany characters and songs. And only one ending. Read thru is arranged for Thursday 5 Aug at the Branford (TBC).
Welsh Phil II The productive Phil also wishes to arrange a radio-play style rehearsed read-thru of Erosia, the blank verse masterwork with five endings. No date was fixed as even Phil can’t juggle two read-thru’s at once, but if you’re interested, Phil’s number is 07906 316588.
AOB Jo will be holding her Shakespeare workshops for the RADA certificate in September at a date and venue TBA.
Next Meeting shall be held at The Nelson on Nelson Street at 7.30pm on Wednesday 4th August.
